1. Stem cell research
2. Faith based initiatives
3. Ban on overseas aid for agencies that also deal in abortion
Not a lot there, is there?
Notice that 1 and 3 involve restrictions on Federal Funds only. There is absolutely nothing prohibiting anyone else, or any other nation, from funding either stem cell research or aiding overseas abortion clinics. Of course, this is meaningless to those who believe that unless the government funds something, nothing will ever be funded.
As for number 2, it simply recognizes that some of the most practical organizations for helping people are religious ones. It wouldn't be an issue if the church and state provision of the Constitution had not been extruded far beyond the Founders' original intent. I wonder how long it's going to be before it's illegal to walk down a public sidewalk wearing a crucifix.
Frankly, none of these would be issues at all if the Federal government wasn't funding stuff that they shouldn't be involved in in the first place. In my ideal world, Federal money wouldn't be going to any of these.
In any case, none of these minor issues are having any real earth-shaking impact on the average American's daily life, compared to what the Federal government is doing in the secular areas.
