Eugene Cernan himself says the space exploration of the 60's and 70's was far more romantic than it is now.
That's also what helped the recovery from the Apollo 1 fire.
And what enabled to respect the deadline for the Moon.
And what made travels beyond LEO possible.
We need romance in space.
