difference between socialism and communism

There isn't any, really. The Left just doesn't like the word "communist" any more, and is sweeping it under the rug. Actually, "socialism" is following it under the rug for the same reasons. The favorite word is "progressive" now. The philosophies, methods, and theories are pretty much unchanged since the 1930s. I don't know what the next word will be when people catch on to what "progressives" are.

Hayek showed back in the 1940s what should have been obvious to everyone: that it is totally impossible to construct any form of highly centralized economic system without massive political control of the citizens. Got that?

Totalitarianism is not an aberration of socialism/communism. It's an inevitable outcome. One would think the long, bloody, and totally consistent history of nations that have adopted this system would be a clue.

Socialism/communism, for all the desperate whitewashing done in its name, is based on the idea that your productivity and life is the property of others to dispose of. There is another word for this.

As for the rich running everything, call me when Bill Gates can force me at gunpoint not to buy Linux.
