Walk into any factory in America and you will find people working long hours in a filthy environment for little pay, almost non-existent safety precautions, and old broken-down labor-saving devices of questionable usefulness. These people mass-produce products that add to the diversity of choice in supermarkets, and keep the shelves full. However they won't benefit because there is nothing left of their paycheques after they pay the rent. For the middle-class things are pretty good for 5-10 years, full of memories good & bad, and a bright outlook. Then every 10 years a recession hits which knocks about 8 percent of them out of work and into the sweatshops, never to return.
At least we have democracy to balance the profit-mongering, with elected authorities empowered to protect our human rights. And at least capitalism still creates wealth!
