The closing and reconfiguration of East Ave. was my biggest contract of the year for me, it was DOD money, part of Home Land Security. Tom Ridge even made an appearance.
Yes, LLNL and Sandi is a city in itself with cutting edge technology that boggles the mind. It used to be I could ask all the questions I wanted, some NASA projects, but now it's hard to get the details and I was quietly told once to tell my employees not to even look at one compound we were working near. Some zoned areas we have an escort watch us work and are not allowed to have our cell phones turned on. I've almost peed my pants when a guys dressed in all black come out of the bushes with automatic weapons and Humvees roll to a screech as my more guys jump out and start yelling (on practice drills). I think they enjoyed scaring us.
I have many stories I could tell from working there on and off the past 20 years but I could get into trouble and I'm already rambling.
