For the love of God, is shredding women and kids with flying metal an appropriate response to getting your fruit dumped on the road?
No, especially if you telescope it down this way. But a persistant policy of dehumanizing people has its equivalent effect of dehumanizing one's own people in the eyes of the oppressed. As ye sow, so shall ye reap.
Is starting a war an appropriate response to getting your taxes raised? The British didn't think so in 1774 when faced with American Patriots, whom they considered a criminal rabble. (Only about 33% of Americans supported the Revolution, so they deserved it.)
Is razing the countryside an appropriate response to secession from the Union? The people of Georgia didn't think so when faced with William Tecumseh Sherman and his Union troops, whom they considered servants of the Devil. (A majority of Southerners supported the war, so they deserved it.)
The difference between a rebellion and a revolution is that the revolution is successful, so the victors get to write most of the history. This is a rebellion, so far. It's likely to stay that way, just because of the inequities in armaments. But if the present trend continues, the Israelis will keep the land and lose their democracy. They will be living in the very police state that so many of their first immigrants fled, only they will be the keepers. That's some cart of fruit.
