In fact in much of the Western world politicians have very little to do with their economies. Their economists dictate nearly all the policy, the politicans only suggest a trend such as more spending or less taxation. Greenspan and his economists controls most of the economy not Bush.
The Republicans have the power to make a budget, and tax policy. These are the things that are being condemned by the experts.
