What where they thinking? Maybe we can give "tax cuts" to people who don't pay any taxes? Only, how can you cut the taxes of people who don't pay taxes?
Just once, I'd love to hear their definition for who is and who isn't wealthy. That would provide a lot of insight into their thought processes. What income level makes a person wealthy? Do they factor in the cost of living variations in different parts of the country?
For example, my son and daughter-in-law bought their first home in San Diego about 18 months ago. It's a 1200 square foot two bedroom townhome. It cost them $285,000 and was recently appraised for $330,000. Their mortgage payments are substancial, especially for such a minimal home. A couple making much less than $100,000 a year would have a hard time buying any sort of home there. Yet, to hear some, that income level makes a couple wealthy. Perhaps in some parts of the country but definitely not in others.
So, before I listen to any more claptrap about "tax cuts for the wealthy", I want to hear your definition for what "wealthy" means. Above what income level is someone considered wealthy. I want hard numbers. If you can't answer that, then nothing else you say is worth listening to.
