Taxes and regulations grew in the first place because some people believed they were the best option. In economics there are peer reviewed papers available on these things. Now deregulation and tax cuts in themselves aren't self evidently bad or they would never have evolved anywhere. In other words they exist at the current level because there was some evidence for it.
That you are at a loss at what is evidence is also part of the problem, and this is where you usually get hard to hearing. What constitutes evidence is what the science of economics considers evidence to be, not some novel writer or right wing nutcases with bizarre theories of capitalism.
The science of economics could be considered like Galileo and the RNC like the Catholic Church. They only seem to progress in developing the science in spite of the faith based belief systems of the extreme right. You can dance around it but the facts are mainstream economists think Bush's ideas are a load of rubbish. They also think your so called evidence is a load of rubbish as well.
In fact the economic theories you advocate are no better than that of the old snake oil salesmen. Since they knew most people get better by themselves anyway the false medicine was seen to work sometimes. In the same way economies get better by themselves so Bush with his nonsensical theories takes credit for something that happens by itself. The only question is how useful was his medicine and how useful was the one advocated by mainstream economics.
Bush and his ideas will be classified with the flat earthers, the creationists, etc.
Of course this is an old argument and you are no doubt as unwilling or unable to change from it as you have always been. The point is why Democrats think Republicans are stupid and vice versa. The answer is in any opposing argument it continues until both sides agree to perform proper experiments to determine the truth. After that one side shuts up, or in some cases both a found to be right to a known degree.
So the two sides will continue to be uncivil, calling each other stupid until that happens. Currently the science of economics is on the side of the center left position and asserts the evidence shows the extremem right and Bush are wrong. Therefore the Democrats are going to continue referring to the Republicans as crooks and idiots until they address that.
Hand waving and vague references to history, and reading the papers won't cut it.
