Facts please, not sound bites...

"Estimates are that ANWR could produce the amount of oil we currently import from Saudi Arabia for upwards of 30 years."

WHAT? Whose figures are those? On a field that has never even had exploration drilling? These are not proven reserves, they are not even probable reserves, they are a sales pitch based upon very little data. Gimme a number in billions of barrels, and it's source. Sorry but it sounds like something out of the energy task force, a sound bite to dupe a non-questioning public. I, for one don't believe it, not for a minute.

And the biggest problem with natural gas is transporting it to the market. Everytime you see a picture of an oil rig and there is that big flame burning, that's natural gas! They can't store it, and there are no pipelines to get it to us. There are plans to build a pipeline through Canada from Alaska (adding more of the Canadian gas as it goes, but the project is so hampered by political stupidity that all that gas just burns, doing no go at all. It's a discusting shame.
