Saudi Arabia's oil won't just suddenly run out unless the Saudis are stupid and permit over production (the Soviets did that with their oil fields, destroying many of them as a result). However as the Saudis deplete their oil fields, the cost of crude will go up. At the same time, the Chinese are going to discover the freedom that owning an automobile brings. Petroleum (fossil fuel) is the basis for our entire economic house-of-cards. Nuclear fusion was the panacea that was supposed to save our bacon. It ain't going to happen. As the world's economy goes down the toilet, the U.S and Europe won't be able to buy Chinese consumer goods. That means the Chinese won't have money to buy gas to fuel their new automobiles. In the near future, there are going to be many unemployed Chinese living out of nonfunctioning automobiles. In the mean time, we Americans will learn how to get to work on bicycles and make our own consumer goods. Isn't globalism wonderful?
