There are many steps that can be taken to keep american jobs in america without moving beyond the level of regulation that even the partisan right accepts (ant-trust law, etc). We could start by settinmg incentives in place and closing loop-holes in the tax code that gives incentive to outsourcing.
Davin, try to imagine some conservatives frustration.
Democrats decry: "the lower jobs aren;t making enough money, so we need to raise minimum wage."
Republicans then say, "no, that make it too hard on busness here, it would hurt them, and cause them to move to places where labor is cheaper. IT would make american workers less competiive."
Democrats: "You evil money hungry rich SOBs! you don;t care about these peoples quality of life, you just want to see all the rich people do well. . . you could care less about the poor!"
Republicans: "No I didn't say that what I was saying . . what I am saying is -"
Democrats: "YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT THE POOR! YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT THE POOR! EVIL RICH PERSON! EVIL RICH PERSON! . . . "
Republicans: ". . . goddammit not this crap again"
Well now it turns out standard conservative policy argument number 342-C was right, and we are seeing the result. Except the democrates who raised the minimum wage are either
A. too stupid and can't see why,
B. unreasonable and won't try to understand why,
- or-
C. just plain dishonest and don't care as long as they get thier party elected.
What are we faced with now? An american worker that is too expensive by law. And whose fault is it now? Bush of course - because . . . because. . uhm. . . he failed to act! yeagh thats it, thats the ticket. No, its the democrats that created this problem.
So what can we do about it? not much, unless someone wants to commit political suicide and make try to lower minimun wage.
But what about your suggestion? Well at what point does it stop being outsourcing, and become contracting? The busness would simply split off its branch in india, pay the same cheap rates, and then capitalize on the tax credit. And what about transnational coporations? And then how is this different from tarriffs? (call it human tarrifs, or labor tarrifs) If taxing steel from other countries differently than from the US is bad and its justifyable to TRASH BUSH ON IT, they why isn't your policy just as wrong? AND THEN REALIZE - It would be a policy about tax cuts and busnesses. . . yeagh, thats safe for him "Bush gives another tax cut to big busness! HISS BOOO! BUSH EVIL! BUSH EVIL!" And you and Bowser would still be sitting there complaining that the guy is destroying America. I'm telling you, damned if he does, damned if he doesn't, and times another time around for everything else.
Sayeth Justin: "Sure, we could cut taxes, but that would mean killing grandma! You don't want to kill grandma, now do you! See! I rest my case! "
Wow, the standard democratic scare the elderly into supporting a raise in taxes. Are you sure you meant to post that? That hurts the other side more than me.

Justin Kelly
