It's not the minimum wage jobs that are being shipped offshore to India. It's the jobs of professionals like engineers and computer programmers. We still have about the same number of bottom-of-the-barrel minimum wage jobs...only now former engineers and programmers are having to competing for them too.
Well, its the free market, and a job is paid what a job is worth. We don't have to like it. And its up to us to adapt. For example, if computer programming wasn't worth that much, then theres always a huge under tapped market for teaching english to these countries. The indigenous population sure can't teach english, but they sure want to. And they want native speakers (thats us). Who are they going to outsource that to? (thats us to)
Tell me again, what were you planning to do once you got out of the Army?
Computer Programmer. . . in S. Korea. . . (though it looks like what I would be programming, in the defense industry, something you can't get a foreign national to do)
I'll probably outsource any future wife here too. At least here they aren't riddled with tatoos, smoke excessivly, obeese, and loudly proclaim "oh I can't cook, don't ever ask me to." Unlike too many of my generation in Virginia.
