The drug co.s are still making a profit selling to Canada even with their price controls.(If they weren't making a profit-they wouldn't be doing business there.)
They sell at lower prices to Canada because, on average, Canadians make less money than Americans.
It just like disount movie tickets for seniors. The seniors on limited fixed incomes can't afford the regular price of admission but the theater still want's the senior's money. They can't lower the price of every ticket to make them affordable to seniors so they give them a discount and charge everyone else full price. Making a smaller profit on the seniors is better than no profit at all.
What does that say about what drug co.s are doing to the US consumer?
IMO reason why drug prices are so high here is because insurance co.s extort money from our employers in order to pay drug co.s their ransom and line thier own pockets with earnings that used to line ours.
And by the way, I saw a software company that "solved" the outsourcing problem. Programmers in their area were being paid on average 80k/yr. A consultant told them they could get programmers from India to work for them at 40K/yr. So there solution was to put an ad in the local paper for "Programmers Wanted- 40k/yr." All their positions were filled immediately.
Simple, all we have to do is lower our standard of living to match those of the competing country's - no problem.

Rob
