The ratio of CEO pay to the pay of rank-and-file workers has mushroomed to 419-to-1. It was "only" 120-to-1 as recently as 1990, and if the minimum wage had risen as fast as CEO pay, it would be $22.08 per hour (yeah right, raising the minimum wage to something above the poverty line would be such a crushing burden on American business).
So, how about a law that 1) caps the ratio, but doesn't reduce it (reducing it would be unwarranted government intervention, right?); but 2) requires that the ratio must be calculated against what the company pays its workers in the least expensive country in which they employ people. Or maybe it would be simpler to just say that CEO pay must be reduced by the same amount as the pay of offshored jobs is reduced.
In other words, let's offshore CEO pay!
