I have nothing against programmers (or any other group, for that matter) from India or China on a personal or racial basis. It's not that I don't think they can do excellent work, it's obvious that they can.
I've also got no problem with the rise of indiginous software industries in those countries. But let's let them build their own. We don't need to ship ours over to them.
What I object to is the glee with which American management is thumbing it's nose at the American worker. The people being laid off are the ones who sweated and toiled and did the meaningful legwork to put US businesses on the map. Now management is having them train their own offshore replacements, and cutting them loose as soon as possible.
Yeah, tech workeers aren't the first group to go through such changes. I'm sorry to say that until it threatened to touch home, it really wasn't an issue for me. That's my shortcoming.
Anyway, it certainly shows that US business has no delusions of loyalty to the American worker at all...contrary to years' of propoganda telling us that what was good for American industry was good for America. Turns out that's a bunch of crap. What's good for industry is good for a tiny number of fatcats, and the rest of us can fight over the scraps. If you're not a stockholder, you're not in the equation. If that's the way it's going to be, so be it, but let's lose the weapons-grade bullshit.
