If it makes you feel any better

I have been a hard-core critic of this war from the first sabre rattle, and have worked dilligently to gather data about the facts involved- I think my pre-war link-o-ramas speak for themselves. So I am pretty hard to convince on claims I can't find much support for.

I don't think this was about the Oil: I see no real convincing evidence pre-or-post war that it was. A lot of the so-called evidence is simply pointing out that Rice, Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush are simply drenched in connections to the oil industry and seem to have an open door policy to Oil Lobbyists. I am far more concerned (In the corruption and corporate dishonesty area) about what went down in California, though, than I am about Iraq.

Oil was a motivating factor in the political since: if this was the Central African Republic, or Ghana, nobody would give a rats tush about Saddam under any circumstances short of him waving a completed nuke around while saying "hey hey, over here!!! Come get me before I use this!! Hey!!! LOOK, Dammit!"

In the execution and aftermath of this war, certain well-connected companies (Haliburton and co) are making a killing (yes...)- But that profit I don't think was a prime reason for the war.

My general thinking is that this was an exercise in group think, that they believed their own spin and skimmed-over data that (clearly and as plain-as-day) refuted them. That makes their deed no less disgusting, but at least not as base and inhuman as doing this for the advancement of a few key companies. I suppose we should all be just elated at the parragon of virtue that our Admin is. (getting ill)
