Rat catchers

Actually, I would be a hell of a lot more interested in which of the two would do a better job at catching the rats. How many rats did Set catch in the war? Has the incumbent done a good job in office catching rats, or has he been cutting the trap budgets? Do they catch rats, are do they talk about catching rats?

What's the tally of dead rats on the current watch?

What have they done lately?

IMO, Kerry's piloting a swift boat thirty years ago is no more relevant to how good a President he would be right now than Bush's piloting a fighter jet for the National Guard. Both men have changed a hell of a lot in thirty years. Frankly, back then neither one was without some fairly hefty flaws. Not sure how many politicians would look as good projected back that far. Kennedy left a woman to drown. Byrd was a Klansman. Hell, Reagan was a Democrat! ;)

How many of us would look that good? I voted for McGovern! (Wage and price controls? Dick, are you frigging kidding me?) This was before I knew about the Libertarian Party, and before I realized where protest votes ended up.

If there is one thing that makes this relevant at all is that Kerry has built his entire campaign around "Vietnam veteran." Face it, he walked right into this, and something was waiting there for him.

Can anyone find as many speeches where Bush makes this big deal about flying a jet?

Let me know when the print column length devoted to this issue matches the one for Bush's National Guard service problems.
