Kinda cringed. Emotions are running high, gun control advocates are spoiling for a fight, and gun rights advocates are keeping their heads down. NBC's Meet the Press producers claim that 31 "pro-gun" Senators (i.e, known NRA whores) declined to appear this morning, and only the gun-control side was heard from.
This is a difficult time for a lot of people. Those of us who believe something more ought to be done find the opposite side hard to fathom. There's this bitter thought lurking just beneath the surface: "what kind of monster would be opposed to gun control, after something like this???". I visited the Bushmaster Web site and felt like I was viewing porn...and by my standards, I was. Violence porn.
That's the sort of things going through my head right now, and I guess alcaray was feeling something similar. It's tougher than ever to stay calm, but we really need to try.
