Licensing surgeons and airline pilots doesn't guarantee they won't make mistakes.

And my grandfather smoked until he died at 80 and never got lung cancer. Or as Alcaray put it "People are going to get sick no matter what we do, so why bother building hospitals?"

There's a technical term for the logical error you just made, but I'm too lazy to look it up.
