"Burning down the house to kill the roaches."

Nobody would be happier than I would if someone came up with a magic spray that only killed terrorists. We don't have that option. As long as they are alive, they will come out and try to kill us. And they are hiding among civilians.

Do I have to go into the "what would you do?" song and dance again? It never seems to get any of us anywhere.

Of course people will be angry at unintended deaths. I'm sorry about that, but there is no other option other than a military one at this time.

Last time we fought Iraq we decided--for good reasons or bad--not to finish the attack the rest of the nation, and Saddam shoveled over 300,000 Iraqis into mass graves. Do you think THAT has been forgotten by Iraq? The last article itemizing the number of civilians killed by coalition troops had a number around 3,000 or so (don't remember the exact number).

For every Iraqi mourning a death by our bombs, there are a hundred Iraqis remembering deaths caused by Saddam.

To listen to some people, you'd think we'd invaded bloody Switzerland and overthrown a little old clockmaker.

Our military is derided by the Left for not effectively dealing with "no-go" zones, but when these zones are dealt with, the Left instantly switches to waving the bloody shirts of civilians around. If the military retreats, they'll switch back.

Why not just admit that any conceivable action other than humiliating surrender is not going to get the approval of these people? Then go and do what needs to be done.

We dropped fission weapons on Japan. They don't shoot at Americans when we go over there, or put bombs under roads. Obviously, most of them got over it. By the same token, veterans of the Bataan Death March don't run around killing every Japanese they see.

It's a war. If we win it, it will end. If we let Alan Alda run it, it will go on forever.
