My quote:
Our military is derided by the Left for not effectively dealing with "no-go" zones, but when these zones are dealt with, the Left instantly switches to waving the bloody shirts of civilians around. If the military retreats, they'll switch back.
Why not just admit that any conceivable action other than humiliating surrender is not going to get the approval of these people? Then go and do what needs to be done.
In context, "these people" refers to the anti-war leftists. Not the Iraqis.
Interesting that the entire business of the mass graves, and Iraqi losses from those, is completely ignored. Did you see the numbers?
The status quo in Iraq was the endless killing of Iraqis, sometimes in massacres, most often dragging them off in the night. Hundreds of thousands. An average of thirty a day for 25 years, if you use the numbers at the low end of the scale. If you go to the high end, and include those killed in wars, or those in other countries killed by Saddam, this number goes over a hundred a day. This situation would not have improved when Saddam's insane sons took over.
If we are discussing sympathy for innocent Iraqis on this thread, as opposed to WMD or other issues, that is part of the discussion.
