re: These mass graves?

At end of your link:
"A Downing Street spokesman said: 'While experts may disagree on the exact figures, human rights groups, governments and politicians across the world have no doubt that Saddam killed hundreds of thousands of his own people and their remains are buried in sites throughout Iraq.' "

We aren't going to dig up hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and try to determine their deaths. Digging up 5,000 represents a lot of work.
We have video of Saddam naming people and having them executed without a trial. We know he used chemical weapons to kill citizens- got the video.
Some of murder were done in secret, and buried in secret mass graves. Some was done openingly- and it's doubtful these were buried in mass graves by the govt, but the burial was done by individual citizens. We know Saddam drained an area what might have been "Eden", in order to punish a group of thousands of people.

"The Iraq Foundation is sponsoring a new project, Eden Again, for the restoration of the southern marshes which were the target of a campaign by the Iraqi government in the early to mid nineties. The environmental and military campaign desiccated the marshlands, destroyed the environment, burnt villages, and drove hundreds of thousands of the indigenous ma'dan population into external exile or internal displacement. This project is significant for its human, environmental and historical impact."
