I think there's some degree of truth in the stated ideology of Bin Laden but I also think there's a lot ego and power talking too. His credibility gets strained when his first action, twenty years later, is violence instead of some immediate airing of grievances and some form of verbal outrage. My guess is that Bin Laden is simply a master of motivation, finding whatever message works with the disenfranchised to develop his murderous martyr brigade. Were he truly the ideologue he professes to be, he'd be leading the charge with the suicide explosives strapped around his own waist.

I offer you this rationalization I've been working on all day Lindy to help you get through the disappointment.

1. George Bush will have to clean up and be held responsible the mess I expect Iraq to become.

2. The country survived McCarthyism and came out a better place. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you begin to heal.

3. Our values in this country and fervent religious attitudes have ebbed and flowed throughout our history.

4. If Bush packs the Supreme Court and it restricts abortions, the country will be reminded again by the brutal back alley jobs why we breathed a collective sigh of relief when it was officially legalized. Maybe the shock this time will stick.

Last advice......drink heavily.
