Apparently you have never read Harvard's Ben Watenburg on "Candidate Centered Politics." There is discussion on the number of single issues voters. And their numbers are significant.
Apparently not all voters are as enlightened as you present as being. Or, it could be you missed a session or two of poly sci classes?
At any rate, many people cast their ballot on the basis of one sign issue and ignore party platforms, ideals, and political theories in favor of the one thing that is important to them.
