Science and engineering tend to self-select, too.
If you flunk part of bio because you try to present your religion as a viable scientific theory, you may be less inclined to pursue science or engineering as a career, especially if you're devout in your religion.
I meet them because they are trying to make points in areas where I have substantive interest: the school system. They are also among the groups that evangelize my family personally, but that's another story. RL had the bad luck to encounter them in the schools as wellm, but as a student.
That's where their focus is. So that's where we meet them.
