The question is: Does the state have any legitmate interest in controlling dope use at all?

I tend to doubt that we should spend state money on criminalizing the use and trade of drugs.
But a stoner society, a la Amsterdam, has many many negatives.
It is a tough problem, but I am not at all certain of anything except that the status quo is very unsatisfactory.
