I believe that every state which has legalized medical marijuana has provided that a latter from a physician is required to obtain it.
In your earlier statement, you implied that anyone who was in favor of legalizing medical use was a "druggie" - I'm sure that these physicians woudl be deeply offended.
Bu the way, those physicians, by their letters, showed that this is a physician-patient relationship. The legislatures and the public in several states have shown that they consider part of the physician-patient relationship.
While I don't know the exact interpretation today regarding this physician-patient relationship as a fundametnal and inalienable right, but I do know Jefferson, Thompson, Brown, and the Bond brother's correspondence on this particular aspect of it.
