Checks and balances applies to judges, too

The Constitution created checks and balances for all branches of government to prevent any one of them from becoming too powerful. It seems to many (including me) that judges are overstepping their authority. Many of them have thrown out the results of elections, made law from the bench, and done other things that large segments of the public disagree with. In a representative republic, there should be accountability at all levels including judges. Otherwise, we could just as well dispense with elections and let the judges make all the decisions. That would be the express road to tyranny.
