What I really don't understand

Is whay this is such a political argument.... Scott and others call those concerned by this issue 'enviro-whackos' - the facts are the facts, there is no political agenda behind the facts. We can either deal with the facts and work on the problem, or we can laugh at those that point out the facts and ignore the problem and let it get worse.

I am the last person that would advocate a return to an agrarian society, yet some here have behaved as if I am some luddite because I point out the fact that we do have a problem.

I am so insistent on this topic precisely BECAUSE I dont want to see my standard of living drop... I like the way I live and the benifits our technological society brings. I think we can do things now that will reduce the threat of global warming, there will be costs, but I think if we act wisely our standard of living need not suffer much. I do know that if we don't act at all we WILL suffer a decline in our quality of life and people WILL die...

I am not just whining without proposing solutions either- I think we need to immediately start switching to nuclear power, while at the same time investing more in research on alternative energy- nuclear power should be viewed as a way to transition from hydrocarbons to the next power source... I still have hopes for fusion.

I just wish people could look at the facts and drop the party line- if it helps I have zero patience for the loons advocating a return to an agrarian way of life... I dont want a damn thing to get in the way of our technological progress, but global warming could do a lot worse than just get in the way.

It would be so nice if we could get past the partisan nonsense and just look at the science-
