re: If we elect our government, our government represents us.

"To say that "It's the State Department's fault" is to abdicate our responsibilities as a self-governing people. We are responsible for the activities of those who work for us. We are not necessarily personally culpable for individual acts of others, but we are certainly guilty of being accessories after the fact if we fail to hold our employees accountable for their actions.

That is what I meant, what I mean, and what I will continue to mean. "

Ok, so you are saying the fault is with how the State Dept is running the operation. Good to get that cleared up.
I disagree that we "abdicate our responsibilities" by blaming the State Dept. Without doing this you aren't idenifying the problem. Once identified then we can elect people who will promise they are going to change the State Dept. How important of a issue do you regard this as being? For instance, would it rank above doing something to improve MediCare?
So, you are you with me- we need to change how the State Dept is run. While we are on the topic, how about the UN? Is the UN running a better operation than State Dept or worse? If the UN is not running as well as the State Dept, should we support reforming the UN as well? Or should we instead "abdicate our responsibilities" in regards to the UN?
