"How frigging obvious does this have to be? Ask yourself: Why do some people want so badly for everything evil said about America to be true?"
I dont want it to be true. I dont want tens of thousands of totally innocent civilians to be dead, I dont want American troops, 1600+ of them, dead. I dont want British troops dead either. I dont want to see, day after day after day, for more than a year, daily reports of another 5, another 10, andother 50 people dead. It makes me feel genuinely ILL that what is happening there is on my behalf as a British citizen.
However - we were told that this war had to happen because of the war on terror. A lie. We were told that it had to happen because
But if you could stop with the spokesman for the Iraqi tourist board spiel for just 30 seconds, you could see how mad you sometimes sound. You make it sound like the streets of B'dad are lined with rose petals, and people gather for dinner parties, fairs, and have coffee mornings. Reality check - the streets are lined with bodies, you cant go to a friends for dinner, chances are you'll get blown up, and hey, dont drink the water, it'll probably kill you.
I dont consider myself left, right, centre, whatever. If I were to be labelled in terms of politics, it would probbaly be as a Tory ( Conservative ) but that doesnt enter into the issue in any way shape or form. I dont despise Bush for political reasons. I couldnt give a damn about them. I just see two world leaders lying to the rest of the world, invaiding a country that posed no threat to its neigbours or the western world, lying about when the work was finished, and quite obviously putting their priority, Oil, above any other ( such as health, services, education etc. ) - and then making sure that their friends on the boards of construction firms can cash in with the 'rebuilding' of a devestated nation. Worst of all - when the truth regarding WMD's (i.e. there were none, and we KNEW there were none, but we were bullshitted about it anyway), and connections to AQ ( there was none, we knew there was none, but we were bullshitted about it anyway), then they just flipped the song sheet to side B and said they had to invaid because regeime change is what was needed all along. Funny that, the day the war started, the phrase regeime change was never mentioned.
Was SH a cruel leader. Certainly. Was he a threat to his neigbours. No. Was the war necessary. No. Was the war justified. No. Does invaiding a nation 'pre-emtively' set a dangerous precident. YES. Where next George, Iran? Defense contractors must be getting a bit bored now, time to get the toys out again and start playing eh?
Dont you feel insults that we were lied to by the very people we trust with the running of our countries? They've stood infront of the world and told pure, barefaced lies. No two ways about it - that's the facts.
