If "study after study" tells us that wages below $12.50 are "poverty wages" requiring subsidy from the city, explain how all the thousand of other jobs in the city at the lower minimum wages are managing without sucking the city dry.
Remember, this $12.50 minimum wage doesn't exist at all in D.C. right now.
This whole thing is a sop to their leftist constituency. They know damn well it will probably get vetoed, same as a similar law in Chicago did. "Well, we tried."
