Gary, I am not placing farsi words in Arabic script ;-) What you see in genuine Persian alphabet which we gave to arabs 1400 years ago.
Actually before arabs invaded Iran, there was not a real alphabet and grammatic for arabian language. The written alphabet before in arabian peninsula as far as i know was "Kufi" alphabet. (from "Kufeh", a small city in south of Iraq)
After Arabs invaded Iran, Iranians wrote the alphabet and grammatic for arabs and they used it to rewrite koran from kufi language to the new-made-by-Persians-arabic-alphabet.
There are some extra alphabet in Farsi though. For example Arabs don't have "p" پ (it has 3 point under) they use "b" ب (it has 1 point under) instead, they also don't have "zh" ژ (it has 3 points up) (like Dr. Zhivago) at all. But yeah, if we want to be skeptical, i would just learn this from any source if anyone like to put it like that. Just to let you know the differences.
