It doesn't get much more meaningless.

Bush really didn't need to end his vacation at all. It's all just appearances. Once he did, it made it seem like there was something he could do elsewhere more than at his ranch. Old habits die hard and someone probably said the media, which had already been editorializing about his month long vacation, would further hammer the issue.

Believe me, Bush probably accomplishes more at his ranch than in the white house. Give bush his custom made telephone and he can contact everybody. Everybody can contact him. He has less time-consuming protocol to observe and is more relaxed in both dress and appearance.

If Bush were visiting a foreign dignitary or out of the country, he would still be reachable. Whether he sits in the oval office, in a hotel in London, in his truck or in the den of the ranch - it makes no difference.

It's all so ridiculous.
