you seem to be creating a linkage between Islam and terrorism. Right?

Is this like a trick question? Or have you just not read a newspaper in ten years? "Islamist" has an exact meaning, by the way.

Whether you are, or not, it seems to be suggested that two and only two alternatives exist in the "what to do" scenario. 1) we can get along with them and deal with them as neighbors with the right to exist and grant them the right of self-determination, or 2) the Republican way, we can attack them (what is there, a billion Muslims in how many countries?) bend them to our will, dominate their societies, dictate their form and operation of government and teach them how to behave.

I didn't say there are only two alternatives. I was looking for a realistic one from you. As for alternative 1, this is not a viable solution given the ambitions and policies of our enemies. "Co-existence" is not in their lexicon. They attacked us, remember?

FDR threw the Japanese into internment camps. Truman dropped fission bombs on Japan. Kennedy lit up the Vietnam War, and came close to invading Cuba.

You know, I really don't think you want to know how the old Democrats would have dealt with Afghanistan and Iraq. I know how they dealt with Germany, Japan, and North Vietnam, and those countries are still full of old craters.

With every post you make, you further prove my point. You don't have the tools required to deal with this threat. And, whatever the errors Bush has made, neither does the current leadership of the Democratic Party.
