The war did impact the oil situation. In 1997 China had made a deal with Saddam for the production of the al Ahdab oil fields. The war effectively ended that contract and today 2/3 of all oil reserves are under the thumb of the US. Gotta keep them SUV's rolling-even if we have to make them hybrids.
