They only prove the cartoonists point when they threaten murder and kidnappings and beheadings and terrorism... When they make threats of violence then it crosses the line of free speech. I cannot make such threats without getting in trouble.
They are showing themselves for the fanatical trash they are. Are there peaceful muslims? OF COURSE- The great majority are peaceful and live, as much as any adherents of a religion do, according to the good teachings of their faith.
But the violent fanatics deserve no respect. They should be treated with contempt- those in the streets calling for beheadings and threatening another 9/11 deserve all the contempt, insult and derision that can be heaped on them, and more.
The bottom line is the cartoonists had the right to do what they did, and those that are threatening violence deserved the insult and humiliation. The cartoons were directed at the fanatics- if it hurt their feelings, well, that is just fine by me. Given the demands by the fundamentalists that Banks stop advertising piggy banks and other such nonsense I dont blame the cartoonists for lashing back.
