re: The ones I know do.

It happened Christmas of 2000. My very religious grandmother died that evening from a 2nd heart attack. The first one struck her a few days before and she was in the hospital. We were eating Christmas dinner at my parents when we got the call that she had died.

After we got back from the hospital, my wife and I were tired and emotionally spent. I was getting ready for bed when I heard my wife scream. I rain into the living room and saw her pointing at my son’s toy car. She said it moved on its own when she tried to pick it up. I watched her try and pick it up, and sure enough the little car scooted across the tile floor for a few feet.

I walked over and picked it up inspected the car and set it down. I was somewhat baffled. There had to be a logical explanation to it. My wife tried again and the car raced away from her.

She gave up and headed to the bedroom. We both noticed the lights dimmed on any lights my wife walked by. I remember thinking, “what is going on her”. As I followed my wife, I hit this really cold spot. The house was warm all the way through and I walked right into this cold spot, but it quickly vanished.

This kind of stuff happened off and on for two weeks. It also happened off and on over at my brother’s house, just down the road from me.

A picture on my dad, who my grandmother had been mad at, would SLAM face down on the table. It did it many times.

The creepiest thing that happened during that time was when my wife and I were laying in bed. Just down the hall, my two year old son was asleep in his crib, which he had never gotten out of on his own. Sitting on his dresser on the opposite side of the room from him, was a little stuffed lamb that played ‘Jesus Loves Me’ when it was wound up.

There were many other things that happened. Things moving on their own, stuff like that.

My wife and I heard that thing being cranked and we both sat up. It wasn’t just one crank- the toy was being wound up by somebody. It started playing its song. We ran in there. It was still on the dresser and my son was sound asleep in his bed.

We had to wait two weeks to have the funeral. Texarkana had had the worst ice storm it had seen in years. Once we had the funeral and got back to Houston, the weird stuff stopped happening. Or so a thought.

My two year old began talking to someone in his room. He started doing this every night. I went in there one night and he was looking at the corner of his room. I asked him who he was talking to, and he said his grandmother. I got a picture of his grandmother and great grandmother. I asked him which one in the picture and he pointed at the one who had just passed away.

Now he is 7 years old. He says he dreams about her all the time, and that she is an angle I his dream. She really loved him. Now I think she watches over him.

My wife’s family seems to attracted the supernatural. Maybe that is why my grandmother was trying to get my wife’s attention. My wife’s family has many strange supernatural stories. Like the one I told Lindy of the dead grandmother who appeared in a picture taken many years after she had died. Or her cousin’s haunted house. Her cousin committed suicide when he was 18, back in the 80’s. Her relatives have tried to rent that house out, but people never stay long. They report all kinds of strange things. Some have even seen her cousin and described him correctly, even though they never knew him or that he killed himself there. One little boy that stayed in her cousin’s bedroom would talk to him.

I used to shake my head at such stories. I used to think the people telling them are nuts. But now, I am much more open minded.

Do be so sure that science knows everything. Don’t be so sure that this physical universe we live in, its matter, and the laws that govern it is all that there is. I think Heaven is another place (Another universe? Another dimension?) that exists outside the physical bounds of this universe. I think that people there are made of matter that is just as real to them as our matter is to us. I am reminded of the Star Trek were Geordie got phased. Maybe it is something like that.

Maybe Heaven is all around us, but we can’t see it because a photon from this realm would pass right through our eyes, since it follows different physical laws from our own.

And don’t forget, matter is made of mostly space. Matter can be turned into energy and energy back to matter (E=Mc2). So does that mean matter is basically energy that is held together by physical laws? So why couldn’t there be other types of matter that follows different physical laws, and we can’t detect this matter because our instruments are made of different matter that follows different physical laws?

I’ll stop rambling. I’ll close with saying that this experienced turned me from an science eating atheist to a Believer.
