Thanks art. Good post.
I had never experienced anything like that before and I have yet to experience it again. My wife, on the other hand, had a strange experience in a cemetery last year. They were looking for a buried relative in a cemetery they had never been to before. She said she was joking when she called out to the long dead ancestor to show her where he was buried. She felt some presence, and it lead her right to his grave.
I wasn’t with her, so I didn’t witness it. Before my experience, I would have dismissed it as the skeptic I was. Like I said, her family seems to attract that sort of thing (Her brother and his fiancée said he saw a ghost in historical Galveston hotel last year). My family has never had those kinds of experiences. So it might have been her that brought about my grandmother, or it might have been my that my Christian Grandmother was worried about my atheist soul, and decided to make me a believer.- I don’t know.
I was never a Bible scholar and started reading it in recent years. Reading it from a scientist point of view, I really don’t see it contradicting science.
For example, Genesis says that in the Beginning the Earth was without form. This is true. During the Big Bang, what would become the Earth was a bunch of subatomic particles. Later, what would become the Earth was part of the solar nebula.
Another example, it says God made man from the dust on the ground. It doesn’t say how he did it (I believe it was evolution) and it doesn’t say exactly how long it took (No time of reference), so it could have taken millions of Earth years.
