People I think are qualified for the job of President don't run for President. In fact, most of them would run like a rabbit from the prospect.
Do I think that Bush is the best President we've ever had? No, I don't. I have listed elsewhere the problems I've had with this administration.
Do I think he's done a better job of dealing with foreign policy than Al Gore would have? Yes, I do.
I have been watching the Left on this board, and also on other boards, and have concluded that many leftists have retreated into a fantasy world where they don't really have to confront evil or the difficult problems.
They just have to assume that the only real problem is that the wrong group is in power in America. Many liberals are thoroughly convinced that if Al Gore were president right now, we would not have any of the problems in the world we do today. Some even firmly believe 9/11, the recession, problems overseas, and the problems with the hurricanes, would never have happened at all.
It's just so much easier to blame the Republicans for everything.
One piece of evidence supporting this is the massive resistance I get here whenever the idea comes up of speculating on how things would have gone if Bush was not president. How DARE I try to figure out how things could have gone when there is no way to prove it? This is particularly interesting in that these same people routinely speculate on the awful dystopia awaiting us in the future thanks to Bush.
As far as inspiration goes, good luck on your side. You would have to admit that "Bush sucks" isn't terribly inspiring as the core philosophy of a political party, either.

The fact that the question was loaded had something to do with that.
