The left has based their "we are as tough as the right" rhetoric and laced it with a bunch of stuff about NK. Remember the "what has Bush done in NK?" refrain from the leftist version of Yankee Doodle?
Here is there one chance to advocate military action, knowing full well it will never happen.
They feel this makes them look tough and Bush and the right, weak.
"Bomb the installation!"
"Take that missile out!"
"Pre-emptive strike"
It's laughable. When you know that this opportunity is their quota of safe, meaningless "tough-talk" it puts a whole new light on how uniformly the left are addressing this issue.
What do they have to lose? Nothing. Even in their rhetoric they make sure they take no risks.
Everyone knows Kim Jung is a psycho. Provoking a psycho with a pre-emptive strike is the sort of excuse he needs to go after Seoul or mobilize in the de-militarized zone. While we have vastly superior air power and technology, Kim Jung would try to take Seoul by manpower while we do airstrikes on what?
There are about 40 good military targets in NK, after that you have just poor villages and the starving masses to target. But if NK troops are in Seoul, what do you do then?
Bomb Seoul?
So, the left knows Bush is never going to do that. And soon, after the missile is launched and we don't do anything, we will hear talk from the left: "If Bush had not spread our forces so thin, we could handle North Korea!"
Wait for it.
