No, it isnt- the drawback of the system is that you have to be in line of sight of the launching missle- hardly likely in a surprise attack.

I once worked with a guy that worked on the ABL... I asked him what the power of the laser was (I knew he couldnt tell me) He just said that if I was standing in the beam when it fired there wouldn't even be ash left of me- I would guess it is in the megawatt range...
