That's why I support Israel.

Yet my support does not change the imperturbable impasse that zooms up upon Israel.

Even with the relatively enlightened nature of the government of Israel, when compared to its neighbors, the decision to set up shop in Palestine will forever be a curse upon the Jewish people/settlers who will now and for centuries to come have to fight with competing religious adherents over supposed "holy" land, artifacts and structures.

While the author of the article and the KOS post merely had the anti-Zionist position, they overlooked the real questions, which are:

Will Islamic nations get past the placating "destruction of Israel" rhetoric and agenda anytime soon?

(ANSWER: No)

Will nuclear proliferation in the region eventually lead to a nuclear exchange between Israel and its neighbor nations within the coming century?

(ANSWER: Probably)

Would the irradiated "holy" land still attract pilgrims of various faiths?

(ANSWER: Yes - suicidal, fanatical ones)

I don't see too many happy timelines for Israel, no matter how the present conflict, and future ones, turn out. If ever a nation existed with a sword of Damocles dangling disturbingly on a fine thread, it is Israel - and all its policies of strength can only go so far in delaying what appears to be an inevitable nightmare outcome.

In that sense "god" is truly challenging them - eventually they need to see that their attachment to Israel is a mirror image of Islam's attachment to Mecca and both are imbalanced and will need to be freed from their minds before they too can be truly free. Likewise, they need to see that perceived persecution and the devaluation of any human being's worth is a two way street - and it always has been.

When they master those two simple concepts they will be freed from the repetitious destructive cycles they are enmeshed within.
