Yeeeeesssss!
Started about 1PM, took it reeeeal slow, thinking of the dangerous irony of installing an airconditioning unit in blazing heat, and stopped every hour or so for a cold bath. Wheeewww! Had to add extra bracing for earthquake country--the manufacturer's instructions seem to boil down to two 3/4" sheet metal screws in the plastic accordion panel, and gravity, holding it in there. What were they thinking? It'd walk in an earthquake, and probably fall through the floor into the apartment below, seeing as how it's starting from five feet up on the wall, and wasn't that a bear to lift the unit up to head level...I think I lost about a half inch in height, and I'm still waiting for the discs in my spine to decompress.
12,000 BTU, at the other end of the apartment from my office. Oh well, the temp in here's already down in the mid-90s, which is a big improvement considering the heat generated by the computers and other crap in the office. If I can get it down below 90 my brain will start working again. For now, though, it's still about all I can do to post on the Zone....
