Hmmm... a variable constant.

While our sun's output was assumed to be constant for many years, well into the modern era, in reality it is not. There is no "solar constant".

Result: we have a very poor understanding of the sun-weather relationship.

Not only does the gross level of our sun's output change, the components of that output change as well.
