they get no respect, and it's no big surprise that there's no songs about them. though i am pretty damn happy that humans still don't like the idea of eating cockroaches.
i will say these new computers are hot stuff. the keyboard doesn't take much of a hit to type so i can do the prose stuff now without a headache, and on this one the apostrophes are right there with no shift key needed. i could always have used periods and commas--if you look at any old typewriter they were right there on the main keys with no shift--but a poet likes to have his little eccentricities right question mark.
i still have to type out 'question mark' and it's still a job shoving the mouse around but still a lot easier than that damn typewriter return lever was. almost put me off poetry, that did. the return key is the greatest human invention ever. the pick button works okay.
i do better using microsoft word to type since i can set it to fix the capitals and such automatically. a lot of what you've been reading in the new york times is my stuff under an alias--no, for gods sake not krugman--which makes up a little bit for being reincarnated as a bug over and over again.
somebody up there doesn't like poets or newspaper writers, i guess.
but as mehitabel might say, wotthehell it's a living.
