Hi Madelaine
Robert — (archived)

This has been an interesting thread, because despite the fact that I started it well over a year ago, somehow people keep finding it and adding new messages, which drags it up out of the archives. Up to now the new comments seem to have come exclusively from RightWingers, excoriating me for my comments and insisting that every bad thing they say about Obama just has to be true. I've wondered if maybe the Republican National Committee has it bookmarked, and that they periodically send over an intern to try to beat me up.

So tell me, how did you find this thread? I'll bet you don't work for the RNC ;-)

You seem passionate about your beliefs, and of course I like that, because I'm none too pleased myself with Republicans these days. But I should tell you that the HabitableZone has a large number of Republicans, too, so, unlike most political discussion forums, it's not just one side talking to itself and congratulating itself on its brilliance. You might want to hang around and try engaging the RightWingers in discussion. I think it's helped me see them as human beings and not just caricatures from a political cartoon, and because I see political polarization as deadly to America, I can act on that belief and try to find some common ground. There really are some nice Republicans in the world, and this is a pretty good place to find them.
