Would be better at getting all types of information.

I remember being at a farm many years ago, while sitting there answering the call of nature in a outhouse, a very strange looking fly started hovering by the door that was slightly ajar.
The fly was perfectly stationary except for its wings, it seemed to be observing me.
I moved my hand in its direction and it moved at incredible speed to avoid the danger.
After a delay of several seconds it came back, again taking the stationary hovering position, this time I simply observed it while it was observing me.

It did not seem to be looking for food or a chance to bite me, so we were just staring at each other for several seconds.

It was bigger than a house fly it had a long narrow body and its rear section was very shiny and metallic blue in color.

Was it an alien construction that was observing me or was it a blue tail fly that was waiting for a turn the throne? :-}

I guess I’ll never know.
