Nature does not give up her secrets easily and those who seek to learn them must work hard, often with no hope of success or reward. But we owe everything to those who take the trouble and make the sacrifice. To be mistaken is understandable, to make errors because you don't know any better is forgiveable, but to deliberately make up lies for personal gain is an abomination. More so if they are also an undermining of our common knowledge. It is an insult to the beauty and the glory of the natural world and the human spirit which tries to understand it at such great cost and effort. It also shows contempt for those well-meaning people, who because of ignorance or through deliberate lies, have been led astray. Worst of all, it spits in the face of the truth.
Science and scientists make mistakes, and they have their controversies and arguments, but to systematically lie and prevaricate, taking advantage of people's fear and sense of wonder and curiosity, and using every marketing and propaganda trick to deliberately instill misconceptions and error into their lives, is not just a harmless Santa Claus scam like we play on our kids: next to physical violence against the innocent and the weak, commercial pseudoscience and its intellectual analogues is the most perverse and corrupt thing one human can do to another: it obstructs the common human search for the truth.
To believe this nonsense is one thing. To propagate it is another. Don't expect those of us who are scientists, or who respect and love science, to be open-minded or fair to these degenerates. They are foul and corrupt parasites who feed off the ignorance of the innocent and only seek to add to it. I realize those who are not trained in or familiar with skeptical thinking and scientific method might think this an overly harsh attitude, but to those of us who know who these people are and how they work it would be a profoundly immoral act to simply stand quietly by while they peddle their poison to the masses. I am a tolerant man, and I'm willing to put up with a lot of nonsense, but these people are dangerous because they know exactly what they're doing--which tells me they are evil. They are psychic terrorists and mental rapists and they must be exposed before they plunge the world into darkness.
They bear false witness.
